Using blogs in the English classroom

This is my final assigment:

The use of Internet for educational purposes has increased a lot in the recent years.

The ICT's (information and communication technologies) are included in the main programs of the education policy. Nevertheless it doesn't mean that these "tools" are being correctly seized, in particular for the courses.

That's why we have to reflect about the advantages and disadvantages of using blogs in the english classroom. In this article, I'm going to write about how I understand a correct way to use blogs for english lessons, taking mi experience to reflect about it.

First of all, I have to say that this year the english program of our faculty has incorporated the using of blogs for their courses. In my experience, this experience has been very useful. It invites the student to research about topics that he likes and to develop an effort related to it, which is an effective way to learn. In the other hand, this has been a demanding experience. For example, this semester we had to write an article per week for the blog. For example, this semester we had to write an article per week for the blog. Despite it doesn't sounds to much for a classwork, this is a lot of effort for students like us, taking account the demand of the other subjects in the semester and the amount of time in each class for doing it.

In conclusion I need to recall that the using of blogs for english courses offer very much oportunities to develop the learning of the english lenguaje, but this kind of tools should be correctly used, giving the students the necesary amount of time to do the work inside the classroom and not at home.

Assigment 5: Let's Go to the cinema!

Today i'm going to write about a film, which was a milestone of the seventh art. Of course it is also a movie that I like a lot. The name of this movie is Star Wars.

In fact, it is not only a movie, these are six movies, which complete the Star Wars saga.

This is an epic science fiction saga directed by George Lucas and released in 1977 by 20th Century Fox.

The actors of these movies were not very known before the release, but after it, they become celebrities. For example this is the case of Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher. Of course they did a wonderful performance.

This saga is about the fight between good and evil, which are represented by the jedis, who use "The Force" for good and the siths, who use in an attempt to take over the galaxy. The main character, Luke Skywalker -suppose to be "The Chosen One"- is the son of Anakin, an ex jedi who passed to the dark side of the Force. The jedi prophecy says that only the chosen one is able to return the balance to the Force...

The six Star Wars films are must see movies.

From 1 to 7 points, I give it 7.

My Classmate Blog

Hello!



Today, I will talk about the blog of one of my classmates. The one I choose to talk about is Rodrigo's blog. The title of his site is "neoblog" and includes different elements referred to Rodrigo's life and tastes. At this moment, the blog has only three articles, which describe his favourite website, his favourite painting and the blog of his girlfriend.

This blog has a white backgroung color, which is very cosy for the people who visit it.


For me, some of the strenghts of the sites are the use of an extensive vocabulary on the articles and some interesting information. For example, the article "the school of athens" give us information about art, philosophy and history.


On the other hand, some of the blog's weaknesses are the errors in the writing of some words and in the drafting of some kind of sentences. For example, on the first article, says "word" instead of "world". It has also a big photo of the beach in the top of the blog, which uses a lot of space for the view.

3rd Assignment: Work of Art

After a successful season on January of this year, the theatre company "Compañia de Teatro de Chile", came back to Matucana 100 with the mounting "Cristo". This work is directed by Manuela Infante and consists in the fifth production of the company. It is also financed by FONDART.

I didn't new anything about this work of art until April this year, when my girlfriend invited me to see it. She needed to see this mounting for a subject in the University.

The theatre work is not about religion or history, as somebody could think. It is about three actors and two technists with the problem of representing Christ. It is also about the problematic of representing a representation. What happens with the content of what we understand as "real" if we dedicate us to represent something that is already a representation?

I loved this work of theatre. I think that is a new kind of the gender, which makes you think a lot. At the time of exiting the theatre all the people were commenting really good things about the mounting.

It is a "must see" work.

The Psychology in Sport

I´ve just read an article on the BBC Radio report’s archive about the use of psychology in sport. It started with the question whether psychology can help Nasser Hussain and the England cricket team to improve the performance in this sport. In the following week the England team was going to face a very important match against the australian cricket team.

It seems that the australian team have increased his performance recently. For example they reached the final of Wimbledon. A possible explanation of that succees could be that the australian team has a full-time psychologist available to the team at any time. The England team used to have one, but they released him many years ago.

Bob Woolmer, a cricket coach, thinks that "expanding the players mind", the level of the game should improve a lot.

A website I visit every day is the site of Radio Cooperativa. This is a news site in which you can be informed about national and international events with a lot of details and articles. Also, this site contains special paragraphs of news about entertainment, economy and economic indexes, society and the advances in technology.

I knew about this site because a friend of mine recommended it to me. He showed to me the amount of information who can get from this website.
I really enjoy visiting it because I can comment the news below the articles and debate about them. In addition I have so say that this is one of the best chilean news sites.
The most of the others chilean newspapers and its websites always say the same things and represent the same political thinking.
